Feeling they belong, having friendship, being cared for, feeling safe, having encouragement, and being understood, are all aspects students need before they are ready to learn. Moving through cultures, countries, and schools, are becoming more a apart of people’s lives. Even though each school transitions impacts individuals differently, and not all problems can be solved, there are foundational areas to address. There are definite ways on how teachers and schools can support school transitions for students. This could enable students to flourish academically and socially in their new school, having a ripple effect on the development of their personal lives, families, and community environment.

School transitions develop adaptable and determined students, alongside experiences of loneliness and displacement. Supporting these important transitions for TCK and refugees students are steps in preempting the negative effects that accompany cross­-cultural school transitions and nurture hope and value in students to journey on their life path.

Sharing ideas and resources can keep educators learning and adapting their practice to support the changes students grow through when moving from one environment to another.
